supporting you in a calm, connected, & hopeful birth experience

our birth doula services

Joanna & Jess, Birth Doulas

We are a DONA certified birth doula team serving families in the Minneapolis and St. Paul Metro area. As doulas and Christians, we walk with families through their pregnancy, labor and delivery to provide compassionate care, evidence-based knowledge and a joyful outlook to the birth experience! Each birth story looks different, and we are here to provide a calming presence amidst the twists and turns that sometimes happen. We love bringing a smile to your face, while resting with you in the fact that your body was created beautifully and also naturally designed to give birth.

frequently asked questions

  • A doula is a friend, advocate, cheerleader, guide and constant encourager - she has a servant heart and will be at your side every step of the way! Doulas work alongside your healthcare provider (midwife, OBGYN) by supporting you emotionally, mentally, spiritually and through physical support in relaxation and pain relief.

  • You can never experience too much support too early. We begin working with most of our clients in the second trimester, but we have had many clients prep earlier for their births!

  • Yes! We love to offer faith-based support for any clients who request it. We will worship with you, pray for you and remind you of truth from the Scriptures.

  • In all of the decisions you make in regard to your birth, (and that includes whether you use pain medication or not) we are here to support you in your personalized ideal birth experience!

  • While a doula cannot change your health circumstances, we are here to offer emotional and physical support while also providing comfort during the challenges that a high-risk pregnancy may come with.

  • No. We are here to support both of you (or anyone else in the birth space)! We will collaborate as a team throughout the whole experience.

  • Absolutely! We will visit you postnatally to see how you and your baby are doing as well as provide resources and support up to six weeks.

  • We're glad you asked! Hiring Good News Doulas means you are guaranteed to have a doula you have already had the chance to meet (at least once!) No need to worry about if your doula will be at another birth. We've got you covered!
